How to get candy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It's a treat with no trick.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The fall update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduces Halloween to your island, giving you the chance to don your favorite scary, or amusing, costume. The big appeal about wearing a costume during Halloween is to not only have a fun time pretending to be something else, but it means you can go trick-or-treating, and receive candy. Candy is a limited-time island on your island, so make sure you grab it fast, while it’s available.

The first place you can obtain candy is from Nook’s Cranny. It’ll be available in the cabinet area for 120 bells, which is a cheap purchase. Naturally, many players may believe they can load up on as much candy as they can carry in their inventory, given the cheap price. However, you can only receive one per day. Make sure you jump onto your island once a day to purchase the candy for 120 bells, and then come back the next day.

You want to save as much candy as possible for the Halloween event, set to happen on October 31. It involves the arrival of Jack, the Reigning Czar of Halloween, and everyone gathers up in town on that day in their costume, demanding candy. If they do not receive it, you’re likely to get pranked. On the night of the event, you can visit the residents who are in their homes to receive additional candy.
