Saving the world can wait as you go on an important quest for treats in the Trine 4 DLC level Toby’s Dream.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is out now, and if you pre-ordered the game, you have a little bit more you can do than other players. Pre-orders of Trine 4 came with early access to an additional DLC level called Toby’s Dream. While everyone who bought Trine 4 will eventually get access to the level, for now, it’s only open to early adopters. Pre-orders for Trine: Ultimate Collection also have access to Toby’s Dream, along with digital versions of the first three Trine games.
First of all, you’ll want to make sure you’ve redeemed the DLC before you start playing to make sure you can unlock the bonus level when the time comes. If you pre-ordered Trine 4 from a retail store and got a physical copy, you should have received the download code for the DLC along with your game. If you pre-ordered online, it should have come in an email. You’ll need to redeem that code on whatever platform you’re playing the game on first to unlock the DLC, as it may not be automatically included when you install the game. Once that’s taken care of, you can move on to unlocking Toby’s Dream level.
Unlocking Toby’s Dream
There’s not much of a trick to accessing Toby’s Dream, but you won’t be able to play it right from the start of the game. To unlock the level, you’ll need to progress a fair amount into Trine 4 first. You don’t need to worry about completing any special objectives; play through the game until you get to the Prince’s Dream level in Act 2. Once you beat the Prince’s Dream, head back out to the level select screen, and you’ll find Toby’s Dream on the map. You’ll now be able to choose Toby’s Dream just like any other level.
In Toby’s Dream, your band of adventurers goes on a special quest with a dog named Toby, who originally appeared in Nine Parchments, another game by Frozenbyte, the developers of Trine 4. The level is a colorful romp through Toby’s version of the Trine 4 world, where you’re tasked with helping him retrieve treats hidden throughout the castle grounds. It’s a fun, silly diversion in what’s already an engaging game.
Trine 4 is available now on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. It’s still worth a look even if you missed the pre-order bonus, and you’ll eventually get to play Toby’s Dream when it’s made available on all versions of the game sometime in the future.
