Locating the ghost, which you are hunting, in Phasmophobia is one of the game’s greatest challenges. The spirits in Kinetic Games’ psychological horror title have a number of ways of revealing where they are hidden, as well as finding ways to distract you while they pick you off one by one.
One of the ways that ghosts in Phasmophobia can do either of the above is by turning on car alarms. Certain maps have a vehicle parked outside, and these paranormal entities can set them off at a moment’s notice. Usually, ghosts can turn them on from two meters away. Car alarms can become an issue if you don’t turn them off, as they can mask a ghost’s voice, footsteps, or noises, which are key to finding out exactly where they are.
If you don’t know how to turn off car alarms in Phasmophobia, we’re here to help. The first step is to locate the car keys. These can be confusing to find as, depending on what map you are playing on, there are other keys hanging up around the house that you can mistake for car keys.
Vehicle keys are usually found at the front of the house. Look around for a key hook mounted on the wall, or in a bowl on a table, near to the front door. To pick them up, left-click on your mouse. Head outside to the car or vehicle, and stand right by the door. Left-click again to turn off the car alarm.
If you turn the car alarm off within 10 seconds of it being set off, the ghost should still be nearby. Use your EMF detector to find out, and you will get a Level Two reading if it is. If it’s been a while since the alarm started sounding, the ghost might have moved, so you will need to track it down.
