The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare ranking system explained.
Ranking up in Call of Duty has primarily remained the same over the last decade. You level up to a certain point, unlocking guns, attachments, and perks, and when you choose to prestige, you start over with a new emblem.
How the Ranking System Works in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is changing up the ranking formula this time around. When you first start the game, your goal will be to hit rank 55. Reminder; Modern Warfare combines your Multiplayer and Spec Ops level. Where you usually would prestige and lose your level, you now receive more levels called Officer Ranks.
Officer Ranks are a seasonal ranking system that comes with rewards and 100 additional ranks to progress through. At Officer Rank 1, you receive a cosmetic Weapon Blueprint for your service. As you advance in Officer Rank, there will be other cosmetic items for you to unlock.
Officer Ranks use the same base form of XP that had you level up to 55. Completing matches and challenges while getting kills and objective XP will level you up the same way. Every time you go up an Officer Rank, you unlock an Officer Challenge.
Like your usual challenges, Officer Challenges will reward plenty of XP when you complete them with the bonus of a Seasonal Ribbon. When you earn 10 Ribbons, you receive a Seasonal Emblem. Every additional 10 Ribbons you make modifies that emblem showing your progress. When you earn 100 Ribbons, your emblem becomes animated and shows that you are maxed out for that season.
You also receive another cosmetic Weapon Blueprint for maxing out your rank. Your seasonal emblem and rank will always stay connected to your profile. Once the season ends, everyone’s Officer Rank will reset, but all past achievements will be visible on your profile.
Good luck progressing through the game, and enjoy the new entry in the franchise.
