Here’s how you can unlock and play co-op in Luigi’s Mansion 3. Time to grab a Buddy and play through the campaign.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the first game in the series to offer co-op play, allowing a friend to play as Gooigi and work alongside Luigi to beat the game.

There are some sections, however, in the game that one character cannot access, so while you can play the game in co-op, not every part of it is accessible to both players.

But how do you unlock and start co-op play?

First things first, you will need to have beaten the Floor 5 Boss and retrieved E-Gadd’s Briefcase before you can access Co-op play. This is because Gooigi will not unlock until partway into the game, and you need him to be able to play with a friend.

Once you do have him, you can play Co-Op with ease. Just make sure you have two controllers connected to your system and open up the Menu with the = button on the controller. You will see the Co-Op options on the page.

Click it, go through the steps on-screen, and Co-Op away!
