Here is how you can get a Meowth capable of Gigantamaxing in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
One of the new gameplay mechanics in Pokémon Sword and Shield is Gigantamaxing. This not only makes your Pokémon enormous, but also changes their physical appearance, makes them stronger, and gives them access to new moves. However, there are only a few select Pokémon that are capable of Gigantamaxing in the games. One such Pokémon is Meowth. If you want to get your hands on a Meowth that is capable of Gigantamaxing, here’s what you need to do.
Gigantamax Meowth is awarded to players who buy either Sword or Shield soon after they come out as an early-purchase bonus. From the games’ release on Nov. 15, through Jan. 15, 2020, players will be able to receive a special Meowth capable of Gigantamaxing.
However, aside from just purchasing one of the new games before Jan. 15, you’ll also have to actually claim your Gigantamax Meowth. So don’t buy the game early and then just let it sit on your shelf for months if you want a Gigantamax Meowth. To claim your Gigantamax Meowth, you’ll have to use the games’ Mystery Gift feature.
In order to get this Meowth via Mystery Gift, you’ll have to be connected to the internet and select “Mystery Gift” from the game’s pause menu. Mystery Gift should become accessible from the pause menu shortly after you get through the Slumbering Weald section near the beginning of the game. Once you have access to Mystery Gift, you should be able to receive Gigantamax Meowth via internet. For a more in-depth guide on how Mystery Gift works, click here. Your game should receive the special Meowth that can Gigantamax, which can immediately be placed either in your party or a box.
