Where to find Lapras in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Recommended Videos

You might recognize Lapras from the animated Pokémon show. It first showed up during Pokémon Gold and Silver, and the giant creature is making a return in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The Water and Ice-type Pokémon is hard to miss because you can see it floating along the water in the Wild Area. Unfortunately, you need to obtain the Rotom Bicycle upgrade to cross the water after fighting the sixth Gym Leader and ride the water over to it. You can’t catch it by throwing your fishing rod into the water, so you might see a few floating around the area, but you can’t get it yet.

When you receive the Rotom Bicycle upgrade, you can find it throughout the Wild Area in the water-based areas. Hop into the water and ride over to it. With it being a Water and Ice-type Pokémon, you want to be careful using Grass and Electric-types against it.

The Lake of Outrage is not the only location you encounter Lapras. You should check out every large lake in the Wild Area to up your chances of running into a Lapras. They show up pretty frequently, so you should have one added to your collection in no time.

Lapras does have a Gigantamax form.
