Halo: Reach PC Anti-Cheat Incident – What It Is And How To Fix It

In this guide, we will show you a quick and easy fix for the “anti-cheat incident” error message on Halo: Reach on PC.

If you have been playing Halo: Reach on PC, you may have seen an error message during a multiplayer game that tells you there has been an “anti-cheat incident.” When this happens, you leave the match and possibly receive a temporary ban from matchmaking due to dropping too early.

Thankfully, the solution to this issue is straightforward. The incident only seems to be occurring on Steam, and a simple file verification should fix the problem. To verify your installation of any game on Steam, follow the below steps:

  • Open your Steam Library
  • Type “Halo: Master Chief Collection” in the search bar
  • Right-click on the game and click on Properties
  • Click on the Local Files tab
  • Click on the Verify The Integrity of game files button
  • Wait for verification to complete

You should now be able to play multiplayer modes without further anti-cheat incidents. It is hard to guess what is causing the issue, but the most likely cause is that an important file didn’t go through correctly, and the verification process solves the problem.

If you are having this problem on the Windows Store or the Xbox App (Beta), you will need to reinstall the game, as neither app has a method of verifying the integrity of local files in the same way that Steam can.
