How to get shiny Meltan during the Pokémon Home event in Pokémon Go

It's only available for a limited time.

For a limited time, trainers have the chance to add a shiny Meltan to their collection potentially. The Pokémon will be an exclusive drop for trainers during the Pokémon HOME event in Pokémon Go. While the shiny Meltan will be available, it’s still considered to be up to chance so that some trainers will walk away with it, and others won’t be so lucky. Here’s what you have to do.

It’s all centered around the mystery box, which you’ll receive by connecting and sending a Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon HOME.

To send a Pokémon from Home to Go, you need to connect the two accounts. You can do that from the settings menu in Pokémon Go, where if you scroll down far enough, you can see an option to connect your mobile device to your Pokémon HOME account. You’ll want to have your information handy to connect. You’ll need to do this while the Pokémon HOME event is happening from November 17 at 8 AM to the 23 at 10 PM in your local time zone.

After you’ve done this, you’ll receive a mystery box on your Pokémon Go account. Once you have it, open the box, and a Meltan will appear nearby your location in the mobile game. Unfortunately, while everyone will receive a Meltan, not everyone will receive the shiny version. It’s all down to being lucky.

The mystery box in Pokémon Go refreshes every three days, so in theory, Pokémon Go players have three chances for the shiny. While that’s not the best given the overall chances of obtaining a regular shiny in the wild, it’s better than nothing.
