If you ever encounter an issue with your PlayStation 5, it’s a good idea to try running it in safe mode to see if there’s a problem with it. To do that, all you have to do is hold the power button until you hear it beep two times, and then let go. That forces the console to run in safe mode, allowing you to inspect any internal problems it might have, making it easier to figure out how to handle the issue. When you’re done, you’ll want to leave the mode and try to run the console.
Before exiting out of the PS5 safe mode, you want to make sure that you’ve made the necessary changes to your system. You may need to rebuild the console’s database, reset it to its original state, or perform a system reset that reverts your console to its original factory settings. After you’ve done that, all you have to do is restart it.
When you restart your PS5 after being in safe mode, it automatically starts up as it traditionally would. What happens next may vary. If you reset your PS5 console back to its factory settings, you may have to go through the initial options you originally went through when you first had the console. You’ll probably have to reconnect your PlayStation Network account to the console.
If you did not reset your PS5 and fiddle around with the resolution settings or changed around some default settings, you likely won’t have to go through these options. Regardless, anytime you’re finished working on your PS5 in safe mode, restart the console, and boot it up traditionally, with only one click on the power button or by using your PS5 controller.
