Best moveset for Gallade in Pokémon Go

What are the best moves?

Some trainers in Pokémon Go may struggle with picking Gallade or Gardevoir when they capture a particularly powerful Raltz. You can’t have both, and these Pokémon have strengths and weaknesses, primarily in their typing. While Gardevoir is a Psychic and Fairy-type, Gallade is a Psychic and Fighting-type. For those who go with Gallade, what’s the best moveset you can teach it?

Gallade is a Fighting and Psychic-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Fairy, Flying, and Ghost-type moves, but it’s resistant to Fighting and Rock-type attacks. It has a maximum CP of 3,093, an attack of 199, a defense of 165, and a stamina of 145. Both Gallade and Gardevoir have the same stats, but their typing differences set them apart, making them powerful in different rosters.

Here are all of the moves Gallade can learn.

Fast moves

  • Charm (Fairy-type) – 16 damage and 2 energy (5.3 damage per turn)
  • Confusion (Psychic-type) – 16 damage and 3 energy (4 damage per turn)
  • Low Kick (Fighting-type) – 4 damage and 2.5 energy (2 damage per turn)

Charge moves

  • Close Combat (Fighting-type) – 100 damage and 45 energy (100% chance to lower user’s defense by two ranks)
  • Leaf Blade (Grass-type) – 70 damage and 35 energy
  • Psychic (Psychic-type) – 90 damage and 55 energy (10% chance to lower opponent’s defense by one rank)
  • Synchronoise (Psyhic-type) – 80 damage and 50 energy

Gallade has several choices for both its fast and charge moves. Regarding the fast moves, you want to eliminate low kick from Gallade’s potential choices. It has meager damage and not enough energy to make a move sustainable. You’re left with picking charm or confusion, and because of Gallade’s STAB modifier for confusion and the amount of energy it generates, that will be your best option.

When it comes to your charge move, Gallade has a few more choices. Although there are some obvious picks you want to avoid. Psychic is one of those. While it does have a decent damage output, it costs far too much energy than the other choices. 55 energy is too high. Synchronoise’s 50 energy requirement is lower and decent, but it doesn’t provide any viable use compared to leaf blade and close combat. Both of those attacks will be Gallede’s prime choices, and in the Ultra or Master League, you’ll need the low energy attacks to perform enough damage against your opponent.

Gallade’s moveset is not the best. It doesn’t make it a standout option, and its lower defense and health make it a bit squishy. If you can switch it in at the right time, against a good target, Gallade can be brutal with its low energy charge attacks. But you have to choose your battles with it selectively, so if you’re careful, a Gallade that knows confusion for its fast move and then leaf blade and close combat for its charge moves can be the right choice.
