Day five of The International 2018 sets the stage for what’s to come in the grand finale on the weekend. Read our daily recap of TI8.
We’re getting closer to the weekend here, and the smoke is not the only thing clearing from Metro Vancouver, BC, Canada. The list of teams still fighting in The International 2018 competition is also getting sparser. Here is our quick rundown of everything you need to know about day five.
Lower Bracket Round 4
Team Liquid vs. Team Secret
Today we said goodbye to Team Secret after a convincing performance by Team Liquid, who won the match with two straight wins and remain in the running to repeat as champions.
Cosplay Contest

The afternoon offered some variety as the official cosplay contest was held. The range of costumes and skill involved in creating them was impressive as always.
Upper Bracket Final
PSG.LGD vs. OG
PSG.LGD vs. OG turned out to be a hard-fought battle with the winner moving on to the Grand Final. OG took the first game and while PSG.LGD fought back to tie the match in game two, they ultimate fell short and will have to face the winner of the Evil Geniuses vs. Team Liquid match tomorrow.
Lower Bracket Round 5
Evil Geniuses vs. Team Liquid
Hometown favorites Evil Geniuses continued their dominance of the lower bracket by taking out the defending champions from Team Liquid. This result means that Evil Geniuses will get one more shot at forcing a rematch against OG in the Grand Final if they can manage to find a way past PSG.LGD. A tall task, for sure, but one that the Vancouver crowd will relish.
At the end of the fifth day of The International 2018, the tables are set for the lower bracket final on Saturday, followed by the Grand Final. We can’t wait to find out which of OG, Evil Geniuses, and PSG.LGD will take home the Aegis of Champions.
