On February 10, Sony announced via Twitter that it plans to offer baseball fans a chance to try out MLB The Show 21 a bit early. The MLB The Show 21 Tech Test is a closed beta that will go live on February 23 at 10 AM PT, and will run through the remainder of the month. Players will have a chance to test drive the new game and give feedback to The Show’s development team.
But how do you sign up for the beta? Let’s go over what you have to do, plus some things you probably should know before it goes live.
How to sign up for the Tech Test
First off, go to the MLB The Show 21 Tech Test website, and the link for the site can be found right here. This link will allow users to sign up for the closed beta.
When you do that, you’ll be prompted to agree to the Terms and Conditions for the beta, and then specify what console you want to play on. MLB The Show players can choose either the PlayStation 4 or 5, and either the Xbox One or Xbox Series X.
Then, sign in with your Xbox or PlayStation account, and that’s pretty much all you have to do. You will have the option to sign up for the MLB The Show 21 newsletter, but that’s optional and not necessary. After you’ve agreed to everything, the last thing you will need to do is wait until you get the notification that you are eligible to participate and download the test.
Sign-ups for the beta end on February 15 at 10 AM PT. The beta can be downloaded when the servers open up on February 22. The Tech Test begins on February 23 and ends on March 1 at 10 AM PT. Here are the events that will be available for the Tech Test:
- (Diamond Dynasty) vs CPU
- (Diamond Dynasty) Events
- (Diamond Dynasty) Casual
- (Diamond Dynasty) Play with Friends
- Battle Royale

Also, keep in mind that sharing any video or images from this event on social media is against the Terms of the test. Players who choose to do so may either be suspended for the remainder of the test or even be banned from future betas. Additionally, all progress made in the closed beta will be wiped clean once the game officially launches on April 16.
