Luvdisc is one of the less significant Pokémon in Pokémon Go. It doesn’t have an outstanding CP. It doesn’t evolve into anything spectacular that every trainer will want to add to their collection to battle against any legendary Pokémon or trainers. It does stand out in specific Battle League cups, such as the ones that feature a 500 CP maximum, but that’s about it. When you do want to use Luvdisc, what’s the best moveset to teach it?
Luvdisc is a Water-type Pokémon. It’s weak against Electric and Grass-type attacks, and it’s resistant against Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water-type moves. For PvP, Luvdisc has a maximum CP of 848, an attack of 75, a defense of 113, and a stamina of 110. For PvE, it has an attack of 81, a defense of 128, and a stamina of 125. You really don’t have any good reason to use this Pokémon, other than to add to your Pokédex collection. Again, for competitions like the Little Cup that feature a 500 CP maximum for all Pokémon participants, that’s about the only reason to have it.
Here are all of the moves Luvdisc can learn.
Fast moves
- Splash (Water-type) – 0 damage and 3 energy (0 damage per turn)
- Water Gun (Water-type) – 3 damage and 3 energy (3 damage per turn)
Charged moves
- Aqua Jet (Water-type) – 45 damage and 45 energy
- Draining Kiss (Fairy-type) – 60 damage and 55 energy
- Water Pulse (Water-type) – 70 damage and 60 energy
The choices for Luvdisc’s moveset is pretty straightforward. For the fast move, you want to go with water gun. Both water gun and splash generate the same amount of energy each attack, and water gun has the bonus of applying damage to a target, making that choice far more appealing than splash, which does nothing.
When it comes to its charged moves, you want to go with aqua jet and draining kiss. Both of these moves are under 60 energy. Aqua jet is an attack you can do pretty often, and it does a decent amount of damage. If you want to remove a player’s shields quickly, you use aqua jet. When you want to damage them, draining a kiss is your go-to choice, especially if the opponent does not have any shields left. Water pulse, unfortunately, requires too much energy. You’re better off not using it.
Overall, Luvdisc is not an extraordinary choice. You want to avoid using it as much as possible unless you’re going to be battling in the Little Cup. It’s extremely low maximum CP can excel in this league as it won’t lose its highest stats, compared to other Pokémon that would. Ensure your Luvdisc learns water gun for its fast move, and then aqua jet and draining kiss for its charged moves.
