How to catch a Snorlax in Pokémon Go for the Research Collection challenge

There's a new shiny version, too.

There are several Pokémon you’ll need to catch to finish for the Tour: Kanto ticketed event happening in Pokémon Go. While the Tour: Kanto event itself will only happening for a full day on February 20, the collection challenges releasing with it continue for another week.

If you missed out on that day, don’t worry, there are more chances to catch the elusive Pokémon, such as Snorlax. It’s a part of the Research Collection challenge. You’ll have several opportunities to catch it in the wild through the event, but there are other methods to capturing it. Plus, shiny Snorlax will be available for the event and moving forward in Pokémon Go.

Snorlax will have a meager chance of appearing in the wild throughout the event. There are reports from trainers that of the rarer Pokémon appearing in the overworld, Snorlax has the lowest chances. You’re better off finding alternatives methods to catching him to finish the collection.

Another method is to take a snapshot in Pokémon Go. There’s a chance that Snorlax will appear to photobomb you, thereby appearing in the overworld after that happens. You’ll want to take multiple photographs, and there are a few tasks you can complete in the Special Research task to catch a shiny Ditto, so you might be able to do them at the same time.

The final option to catch Snorlax is the raids. It’ll be appearing in three-star raids. If you’re nearing the end of the Research Collection challenge, and if you have a free raid pass, we’d recommend this route.

Snorlax is one of the better Pokémon to use in the Master League. It’s a robust Pokémon, capable of being a heavy combatant, especially if you give the best moveset it can learn.
