Will Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have Pokémon Platinum content?

What's that we see?

The recent announcement of the remakes of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl coming to the Nintendo Switch has caused plenty of fans to cheer in joy. It’s been long rumored that the original games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, would receive remakes, but creators Game Freak hadn’t shared the precise details. That is, until the Pokémon Presents event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise.

Now that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are out in the wild, the next question fans have if these remakes will come with Platinum content. Pokémon Platinum was the enhanced version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that was released two years after those games were released for those who don’t know. Pokémon Platinum gave Giratina a second form, along with a few minor changes to the original content.

Eagle-eyed players have gone through the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl trailer to notice that a particular NPC you only speak to in Platinum has been spotted.

We’re hoping that this more or less confirms that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will have all of the enhanced content from Platinum included in it. It would make sense for Game Freak to include it all in a single release for the Nintendo Switch.

Right now, we’re waiting for a formal announcement to make sure that this is true. We imagine not including content from Platinum would be a peculiar approach for Game Freak. The praise so far for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has been quite high, and fans can’t wait to check it out in late 2021.
