How to get the Falcon Ignition Key in Final Fantasy XIV

Get ready to fly high.

The Falcon Ignition Key is required to obtain the Falcon Mount in Final Fantasy XIV. If you’ve been waiting to claim this airship, don’t hesitate; the Falcon Ignition Key is only available through the Moogle Treasure Trove event. This event begins on March 15 and ends at the launch of Patch 5.5, part one of which goes live on April 13.

Moogle Treasure Trove Event

Since the Falcon Ignition Key is an item from past events, the only way to obtain it now is through the upcoming Moogle Treasure Trove: The Hunt for Esoterics event. This event begins on March 15 at 1 AM PT and lasts until the launch of patch 5.5. Part one of patch 5.5 launches on April 13, so you’ll need get your ignition key before then to get the Falcon Mount.

Irregular Tombstones

To get the Falcon Ignition Key, you’re going to need 50 Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics. You get these tombstones by completing specific duties, which are tied to the Moogle Treasure Trove event.

The duties that reward you with Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics will have a moogle symbol near them, as pictured above. You will not receive tombstones if your party is undersized, so beware of that.

Duties that reward Irregular Tombstones

Duties that award one Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • Alexander – The Fist of the Father
  • Alexander – The Cuff of the Father
  • Alexander – The Arm of the Father
  • Alexander – The Burden of the Father

Duties that award three Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • Dzemael Darkhold

Duties that award four Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Aurum Vale
  • The Keeper of the Lake
  • The Wanderer’s Palace
  • Amdapor Keep

Duties that award three to five Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Borderland Ruins (Secure)
  • Seal Rock (Seize)
  • The Fields of Glory (Shatter)
  • Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam)
  • Hidden Gorge

Duties that award five Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Royal City of Rabanastre

Duties that award six Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Ridorana Lighthouse

Duties that award seven Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Orbonne Monastery
  • Castrum Meridianum

Duties that award 10 Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics:

  • The Praetorium

Itinerant Moogle

Once you have 50 Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics, you’ll head to an Itinerant Moogle to exchange them for your Falcon Ignition Key. There are three Itinerant Moogle NPCs, one in each of the three big cities in Final Fantasy XIV.

Once you find one of these Itinerant Moogle NPCs, talk to them and exchange your 50 Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics for the Falcon Ignition Key. You can only obtain Irregular Tombstones of Esoterics until April 13; you can exchange them until patch 6.0.
