Shiny Pokémon are the scarce variant of the original Pokémon. They have a distinct shine around them and unusual color to them. You can catch these unique Pokémon in Pokémon Go, but they’re challenging to encounter. You have a low chance of it happening, and there are always techniques to try and enhance. If you’re on the hunt for a shiny version of Slugma, can you even find one in Pokémon Go? Here’s what you need to know about if you can catch a shiny Slugma in Pokémon Go.
We can confirm that the shiny version of Slugma has been added to Pokémon Go. It’s arriving for the Mountains of Power event, which went live during the Season of Heritage event from January 7 to 13, 2022. You have a chance of encountering it in the wild or as a field research reward. Previously, Slugma did not have a shiny version until this point, which made its Spotlight Hour event a bit disappointing for trainers trying to find one.
Slugma is a decent Pokémon, as is its evolved form, Magcargo. Some players have attempted using it in the Ultra League, but it’s a little tricky, and it’s a niche Pokémon, so it doesn’t always take off. It even struggles in the Great League. Given its overall stats and moves, you have better Fire-type Pokémon options to fight against your opponents.
