God of War is set to become a brand new series in a few years, and Sony and Santa Monica Studio have never made a mystery out of their real intentions. But there could be some more rather than simply a couple sequels.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, creative director Cory Barlog hinted at the fact that he has up to five more games on his mind for the series, which go well beyond the idea that the franchise could get a new trilogy based on the Norse mythology.

God of War Norse Mythology To Have 5 Games

While he clearly said he would do “five games” overall, in a later tweet he mentioned that the reference to those new titles is just a pure “speculation” as of now, since working on so much stuff would definitely kill him.

“Ok. to be honest, 5 games would literally kill me. you can rest assured the reality is going to be more measured than the speculation in the @kotakudiscussion,” he told his followers about this topic.

Anyway, although they look quite a lot of games, five God of War titles wouldn’t be an exaggerated guess. You might think of a base trilogy and then a prequel as it happened with Ascension and maybe a spin-off if sales really turn to be as good as Horizon: Zero Dawn or at least close. Who knows.
