Sea of Thieves AllmondBeard Errors

Rare was indeed forced to apply an emergency maintenance, which spanned over the course of five hours, and then returned back online together with the game saying that there are still issues of instability.

“Due to a high volume of AllmondBeard errors we’ll be scheduling another emergency maintenance window at 16:15 PDT. During this window we’ll temporarily remove the Open/Closed Crews feature as well as the invisible underwater gamer tags. We’ll post more information as we have it,” the original communication over social channels said.

Then, five hours later:

“We have completed our emergency maintenance and the game is back online. The previously added features have been turned off temporarily and we will continue to monitor game performance and develop a plan to reinstate the features soon. Thank you for your patience.”

And few moments ago:

“We’re still working on fully resolving the issues currently affecting #SeaOfThieves. The game is still experiencing server instability and players may experience issues. More updates to follow.”

Things like these are not new to game as a service, for example Fortnite which is hugely more popular often has stuff like this going on, so it is worth noting this before being too tough and unkind to Rare.

Anyway, we’ll wait for more news to come and the ability to build private crews (which will be later followed by the feature to go from private to public and vice versa during existing online sessions) to return in the shortest term possible.
