Sony has just released a new firmware update for PlayStation 4, and this one brings the console as up as the 5.55 version. As you might expect, this update is not introducing any particular feature.
According to Sony, indeed, “this system software update improves system performance,” which is the standard changelog for firmware updates that basically silently fixes few bugs and prevents exploits to pave the way for hacks.
This is reflected by the size of the download, too, as the patch only comes at 460MB, so at least it won’t have a big impact on your playtime at the console nor the chunk of your HDD to reserve to it.
The last update to introduce features and content was the 4.50, which came in March with extended external HDD support, custom wallpaper, GIF support, new privacy options and more. You can check all the details here.
Considering this new feature slate dropped only couple months ago, we’re still far away from a further update filled with more stuff to discover and enjoy on PlayStation 4. Among the most requested feature there’s still the change of nickname on PSN, something which should be coming sooner or later.
