According to reports, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t be featuring a season pass, or at least not a season pass as seen in the previous years and iterations of the Call of Duty franchise.
At this stage, after the community reveal, we should’ve been already informed about the multiple editions of the game, with the Deluxe Edition including as usual a season pass of sorts for multiplayer maps, weapons and skins.
Anyway, this hasn’t happened, and lead to speculations mounting about the possibility that Activision and Treyarch haven’t worked upon the usual rush of paid additional content.
Based on information gathered by Gaming Intel, it looks like there could be one or two maps coming to the multiplayer component of the game totally for free, and that a separate season pass could be on its way for the Zombie experience alone.
At this point, it remains to be seen how much this pass could cost and what its content could be, possibly enough to justify a further expense outside of the main game.
It’s worth noting that Call of Duty Points are returning too, so it’s possible that Activision could rely on microtransactions only to make its usual post launch monetization system.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is coming October 12 and is going to be an important part of the E3 2018 coverage as usual. It has a partnership with PlayStation, so it’s possible that we’ll learn more about that in the next few weeks.
