Since the days that preceded the reveal at E3 2018, there were rumors floating around that Halo Infinity would’ve not featured a multiplayer component, at least not at launch, in order to have it shipping next year.

Anyway, the director of multiplayer at 343 Industries Tom French has debunked this rumor on Twitter, saying that “I didn’t see any of that information in any of the official 343 I information”, using the hashtag “dontbelievethefakehype.”

Halo Infinite Lack Of Multiplayer Mode Rumor Debunked

Looking at the reality of the facts, it seems that the developer is really focusing on the new engine, called Slipspace, which is inevitably taking a lot of time to craft and polish before being used on a proper game.

The E3 2018 trailer itself was a pure showcase of the ambition of the engine, not a true in-game scene, so it’s seemingly going to take a bit longer to have the opportunity to see some more gameplay and put our hands on the title.

Considering that Gears of War 5 is launching in 2019, it’s possible that Halo Infinite will have all the time to fully go through that process and be released in 2020, likely as a ‘cross-gen’ title of sorts.

And with that release window, it doesn’t seem like there could be the need to ship the need without its iconic multiplayer mode. Anyway, hopefully, we’ll have more on that sooner rather than later.
