“It’s Too Early To Say What We Can Achieve” With Cyberpunk 2077 On Xbox One X And PS4 Pro

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

CD Projekt Red in a recent interview stated that PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be the ultimate version, and at present they can’t comment on what they will achieve with Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. However, the developer added that both current-gen consoles are really powerful.

The behind closed door Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 demo was quite a shocker for the video games industry and one that put into question the fact itself that the game is going to be released for current-gen consoles.

CD Projekt RED keeps claiming the contrary, insisting on the notion that the game will be ready for PS4 and Xbox One and will look great on them. Anyway, according to CEO Marcin Iwinski, it’s still too early to say what they can achieve.

Cyberpunk 2077 Dev - It's Too Early To Say What We Can Achieve On PS4/XB1

“It’s running on a high-spec PC,” Iwinski told GamesIndustry International. “It’s the next generation of our own proprietary engine – and speaking frankly, we’re still working on the rendering so I hope we can get more [out of it].”

“The current gen consoles are really powerful, especially talking about Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. We’ll do our best to maximise for those, but it’s too early to say exactly what we can achieve – and the PC version will always be above that, because it’s constantly upgraded and improved in terms of the hardware we can gain access to. But it should look great on current consoles.”

It’s nice they’re being honest with the status of what they’re doing, but also after so much time one was of course hoping to see the game a bit more into the development process.

Things are instead still a bit rough and running on a high spec PC, meaning the demo which was showcased was unpolished and unoptimized (the rig there was featuring a 32GB RAM, just saying), and it’ll take more time to learn about the consoles we guess.

Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t been attached a release window yet.
