Tequila Works in a recent interview with Eurogamer talked about the possibility of RIME 2 – is the sequel happening, If YES, then when? We all know the troubled development process that has recently led to Rime’s multi-platform released. We all know the troubled development process that has recently led to Rime‘s multi-platform released. It was announced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, with Sony’s funding, but it missed a lot of milestones along the way and was even ditched by its former Japanese publisher.
During a recent interview with Eurogamer, creative director, CEO and co-founder at Tequila Works Raul Rubio Munarriz talked about that, and about the possibility that there could be a sequel in the future for the game.
“We know how to make a sequel to Rime, but it wouldn’t literally be Rime 2 – more like a spiritual successor to Rime. But are we going to make it? I don’t know,” he said, suggesting that it was so painful that the team kind of needs time to recover and eventually return to that world.
“Maybe one day we can come back but for now it’s too soon – anyone who has finished Rime, maybe they’ll understand why. For us, it was a very very big journey and it was very intense.”
Anyway, the Spanish developer feels proud of what it was achieved with Rime, which eventually released on Nintendo Switch, too, and was fixed along the way with a lot of technical improvements that, in the end, made it worth a look.
“After such a long and troubled development, many feared that RiME would be a failure, but Tequila Works proved that there can be light at the end of the tunnel. With peculiar storytelling, varied puzzles, well-crafted platforming elements and gorgeous presentation, RiME can rival with the unique beauty of Team ICO’s games.”
Rime was even delivered for free to PlayStation Plus members some months ago. Did you try it, and what do you think?
