CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski in an interview with Polish website Bankier confirmed that there will be a new Witcher game, but it won’t be named as The Witcher 4. “The first three ‘Witchers’ were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game ‘The Witcher 4’. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher.”
Will there be another game in The Witcher franchise from CD Projekt Red? If a recent statement from CD Projekt Red CEO is to believe then the studio is in no mood to let go the world of The Witcher. Speaking to our friend at Bankier (a Polish Website), CDPR CEO, Adam Kicinski all but confirmed that they will make a new Witcher game, but it won’t be called The Witcher 4.
When asked for the reason behind not naming the new game in The Witcher series as The Witcher 4, Adam Kicinski replied: “The first three ‘Witchers’ were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game ‘The Witcher 4‘. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher.”
Acknowledging the demand of The Witcher community for the new game in the series, Adam Kicinski said: “‘The Witcher’ is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company,” he says. “Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.”
It’s good to see that the top executive of the CD Projekt answering the demand of The Witcher fan base for the next game in the series. The team at CD Projekt Red is right now busy working on a Cyberpunk 2077 and an unannounced game. So don’t expect to see or hear anything related to this new Witcher game anytime soon (at least till 2022).
