In a recent interview with The Guardian, Bethesda’s Todd Howard revealed that Starfield active development started after completing Fallout 4 i.e. 2-3 years. However, fans should not expect Starfield to release anytime soon – “everyone should be very patient,” said Howard.
At E3 2018, Bethesda’s Todd Howard announced Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield (the next big new IP from Bethesda in 10 years). The release date of Fallout 76 was announced November 14, 2018. For Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, Todd Howard stated that fans will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on these two games. When asked to share the development stage of Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI – Todd revealed that Starfield has entered full production and a demo is already playable in-house, whereas TES VI is still in pre-production and not playable.
In a recent interview with our friend at The Guardian, Todd Howard once again touched the topic of the release window of Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, but this time around he was very clear on his message – “everyone should be very patient”. Howard said, the development team started talking about Starfield (internally) about a decade ago, and things started to appear on paper 5-6 years ago, and the active development started after the team finished their work on Fallout 4. This means Starfield has been in active development for the past 2-3 years.
“We’ve been talking about it for a decade, we started putting things on paper five, six years ago, and active development was from when we finished Fallout 4, so two and a half, three years. Everyone should be very patient. It’s gonna take a while for what we have in mind to come out.”
