As reported on the official Nintendo.com site, we’re told that Nintendo Switch Online will be ready by “the second half of September,” so it’ll take a bit longer than anticipated.

The original window for launch was fixed at a generic September, so one could’ve guessed we were only couple weeks for the release of the service. It won’t be so, unfortunately.

Here’s a look at the things you’ll be able to do once the service goes online:

• Online play in compatible games, including Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, and more.
• Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online – A selection of classic NES™ games with newly added online play.
• Save Data Cloud Backup – Save your game data online for easy access. This makes it easy to retrieve your game data if you lose your system or start using a new one.

Plus, you can enhance your online experience with features available through the smartphone app and receive special offers.

Nintendo Switch Online is cheaper than PlayStation Plus, and Xbox Live Gold. The service costs $3.99 per month, $7.99 for three months, and $19.99 for a year. We’ll see whether it gets as big as the two other services in the future.
