Digital Foundry has posted a brand new preliminary tech analysis for Devil May Cry 5, based on the gameplay shared by Capcom during the Gamescom 2018, and made some interesting observations.
As per the gameplay showed during the event in Koln, Germany, the action hack ‘n’ slash is running at a native 4K resolution on Xbox One X while keeping the iconic 60 frames per second frame rate.
Interestingly, at least at this stage of the development process, cut-scenes are running at an unlocked frame rate. This is something that could be optimized and fixed throughout the process, though.
This is a very interesting achievement for Capcom. Even though the game is filled with quite little and contained areas, it’s not a given that a title as good looking as this could be managing such a high resolution on a console.
Devil May Cry 5 was protagonist of very delicious gameplay footage at Gamescom 2018, were it was also given the March 8, 2019 release date for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It’s going to be interesting if PS4 and Xbox One base models are going to be able to achieve 1080p and 60fps, but looking at the quality of the work done at Capcom it doesn’t look like this is a real problem at all.
