During the latest meeting with investors, Electronic Arts’ Andrew Wilson has addressed the rumors about PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
As you could expect, Wilson said he’s willing to support Sony and Microsoft on their upcoming efforts with consoles, even though that support is going to be side by side with a first-party cloud platform.
“There are a few articles out there; a few rumours; and a little hearsay as to what [the new consoles are] and when they’re coming and what they might be,” he acknowledged.
“I don’t think we’re in a position today to have a conversation about that.
But just know that we’ve worked with Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo for many, many years and we look forward to working with them for many, many years more, even if we all collectively seek to move–either some portion of or all of our experiences – to the cloud.”
Reports of new consoles coming anytime soon have been around for a while, as well as cloud platforms from Microsoft and Google.
It’s believed that we’ll learn more about those consoles and platforms in late 2019 or early 2020, with the latter probably being the year when they’re releasing.
