Overwatch is out and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is in for Paladins. The update will hit the game sometime in 2018. The 100-player mode will introduce a massive Paladins map that Hi-Rez claims is 300 times the size of a regular Paladins siege map. Hi-Rez is calling Battlegrounds the first hero shooter battle royale mode.

In the 20-minute Battlegrounds matches, players will fight to be the last standing, as well as battle for outposts and legendary gear. Instead of being a solo mode, Battlegrounds is played in teams—the last team standing will win.
The success of PUBG spawned a number of last-man-standing modes in multiplayer games. Fortnite was one of the first to capitalize on PUBG’s success by launching its own free-to-play battlegrounds-style mode called Fortnite: Battle Royale. Meanwhile, PUBG made its exit from Steam’s Early Access program last month. The game came to Xbox One in earlier in December.
PUBG developer Bluehole, Inc. has also noticed an increase in the mode’s popularity. Executive producer C.H. Kim spoke openly about Fortnite: Battle Royale in September, displeased with how Epic Games handled the marketing and creation of the free-to-play Fortnite mode. Kim was not explicitly upset that another developer created a similar mode, but, instead, expressed anger regarding the use of PUBG in the mode’s marketing.
