Kadokawa Corporation recently teased a new project related to the cult hit RPG Maker adventure Yume Nikki: Dream Diary.
It wasn’t made entirely clear exactly what the project would be, whether it would be an anime series based on Yume Nikki or another game. As it turns out, Yume Nikki: Dream Diary is a 3D remake of the original PC title, created under the supervision of creator Kikiyama.Â
This is a fan’s dream come true, especially since the surreal landscapes and bizarre situations will now be given an entirely new look. Aside from the fresh coat of paint and newly-designed models and environments, Yume Nikki: Dream Diary will also feature a series of “all-new old” original characters, or some that been “dormant” in Kikiyama’s design documents for nearly 20 years. With that in mind, there will likely be some additional content fans haven’t seen before aside from these new characters, too.Â
The game will be releasing for PC via Steam and Playism in both English and Japanese for $19.99, with support for additional languages like Chinese, Korean, Italian, French, German, Spanish, and Russian.Â
As for its pedigree, it was created with the RPG Maker team at Kadokawa Corporation in tandem Active Gaming Media’s dev team having joined forces to make it a reality, so hopefully it’ll be an impressive showing for fans and newcomers alike.Â
Yume Nikki: Dream Diary launches Feb. 23. Â
