The Nintendo Switch’s online paid service will be launching later this year—meaning players will need to pay a small subscription fee to keep playing multiplayer games online.
The service was originally expected to launch in 2017.
The service itself is a lot like PS Plus and Xbox Live. Nintendo Switch owners have to pay a yearly subscription rate of $19.99 to gain access to online services such as online multiplayer. Subscription owners will also gain access to a selection of downloadable titles every month.
If players don’t want to commit to the full year, monthly and quarterly subscriptions are available at $3.99 and $7.99 respectively.
Few other details about the service have been revealed, with Nintendo simply announcing the launch date for the service on Twitter without any further information.
Until the service launches, online services will remain free to all Switch owners.
