Tyler1 and Dr DisRespect might make every one of their fans’ dreams come true by arm-wrestling for the title of “King of Twitch” at this year’s TwitchCon, according to their back-and-forth on Twitter today.
Last month, infamous League of Legends personality Tyler1 triumphantly returned to streaming after a nearly one-and-a-half year ban from the game. Not only did he break the record for most concurrent viewers, he also crashed the streaming service for channels across the platform.
Yesterday, Dr DisRespect did the exact same thing. He returned, broke Twitch, and maybe, just maybe, broke the record as well.
The thing is, no one seemed to be sure what Tyler1’s debut stream last month peaked at, and so they weren’t sure what the number was to beat. We reached out to Twitch, however, and it turns out that Dr DisRespect is actually the new record-holder with over 388,000 peak concurrent viewers on his stream yesterday.
None of this really matters, though, does it? Not to these larger-than-life streamers that claim to be “the best of the best.” These are all just silly little numbers, and the title of record-breaker should be decided by something much more fitting—something like arm-wrestling.
So, when Dr DisRespect reached out to Tyler1 to settle once and for all who really is the king of Twitch, Tyler1 responded with a challenge.
“380k viewers, 383k, 400k viewers—what does it really matter, honestly, Doc?” Tyler1 asked. “Streamers of our size? C’mon, view count is just a number. But, if you want to get technical, I guess there is one way you could settle this. Why don’t we, I don’t know, arm-wrestle, TwitchCon 2018, to decide? Your move, Doctor.”
If all goes according to Tyler1’s plan, the two will duke it out in a head-to-head arm-wrestling showdown at TwitchCon this year. Dates for the event haven’t been announced yet, but last year’s took place in October, so this year’s will likely be around the same time.
