A new, alleged leak says that Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer component could be getting the same treatment as games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite: Battle Royale.

The leak, posted by Jordan King of TrustedReviews.com, is a bunch of development notes originally received in August, but the site decided not to run it at the time. Since official information from Rockstar has corroborated some of what the site received, it now believes it to be true.

The development notes first state that RDR2’s online will feature “Battle Royale,” “Revive and Survive,” and “Money Grab” modes. The first will immediately grab anyone’s attention, as the last-man-standing mode is one of the most popular trends in gaming right now thanks to games like PUBG and Fortnite.

The leak did not give specifics, so it’s possible that it could be a standard free-for-all multiplayer game mode, but it could also be more. The prospects of landing, looting, and shooting all in an old western setting is enough to get people pumped.

The memo is chock full of all sorts of claims about the game, including information about the story, its characters, and gameplay features, including the fact that players will be able to experience both the campaign and multiplayer in first person perspective.

Alongside an open world multiplayer that’s expected to mirror the kind that’s in Grand Theft Auto V’s GTA Online, the potential for a triple-A developer like Rockstar putting its spin on the battle royale genre is truly exciting.
