Nintendo ends up putting a lot of games on its digital eShop platform, but it’s not exactly the easiest to navigate if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
That’s why the company has announced it’s interested in making games simpler to find and discover during a press briefing at GDC 2018.Â
Eurogamer states that PR manager Damon Baker spoke on feedback received about the eShop and stressed that the team is looking to change things from there.Â
“I can assure you steps are being taken over the course of the year to improve the functionality in terms of discoverability and visibility, to highlight all of that great content,” Baker said.
It’s not immediately clear what kind of issues players have had with discoverability since most new games are on display very readily on the eShop, but it’s clear some players have been experiencing issues.Â
Whatever Nintendo has in mind as a solution is certainly going to require expedient implementation, especially as digital sales have been outpacing physical sales for the company, which is closer in measure to companies like EA and Activision. Baker noted that, for these companies, digital sale represent 50 to 60 percent of their revenue.Â
To that end, Nintendo is looking at bringing the eShop further into the spotlight when it comes to social media advertisements and the main Nintendo site. It looks like it’s about to get a lot more beefed up over the coming days.Â
