Any fans who wanted to see CD Projekt Red reveal the next game in The Witcher series might be a little disappointed.
Adam Kicinski, the CEO of CD Projekt Red, recently shot down the possibility of The Witcher 4 in a lengthy talk at the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar. Kicinski said that CD Projekt Red won’t be creating a fourth title in the series because the games were supposed to be a part of a trilogy from the beginning.
This doesn’t mean that The Witcher series is dead to the studio, however. “No one said that one day we won’t decide to develop something in The Witcher universe,” Kicinski said. Some fans are interpreting this as Kicinski possibly opening the door for a spinoff title in the future.
The last Witcher title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was released in May 2015, bringing an end to Geralt’s adventure after nearly eight years. A game of the year edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which brings together the main game and all of the DLC, is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Kicinski went on to mention that CD Projekt Red is hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077. The game may make an appearance at E3 2018, but it appears that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t have a multiplayer mode at launch.
CD Projekt Red is also continuously trying to update The Witcher card game, Gwent, as new cards are constantly being added to the game. Even though it doesn’t seem like The Witcher 4 is coming anytime soon, there’s still plenty of CD Projekt Red content for fans to try.
