Heard about the quirky new Pokémon game featuring Pikachu as a talking detective, but not sure if it’s something you’d be interested in? No worries, because you don’t even have to buy the game or rely on trailers to help you decide if it’s worth trying out. Nintendo has instead released a special demo version to help you figure out if it’s up your alley.Â
Detective Pikachu’s special demo is available in the Nintendo 3DS eShop right now, so if you haven’t yet taken the plunge, you can download it for free and try the game out. You can get all the way through the first part of the game, which takes about 30-45 minutes to complete, which should give you ample time to determine whether or not it’s worth plunking down your hard-earned cash for.Â
If you do download the demo and play through it, you’ll get to save all of your progress, as it’ll carry over to the full game should you choose to buy it. That’s a good chunk of game time that you won’t have to play again, and considering it’s some of the least interesting as well, you’ll be enthused that you got all the expository stuff out of the way if you do buy the full game.Â
Plus, if you do take the plunge, from now through April 22 you’ll also get a free code for a Detective Pikachu Nintendo 3DS theme. That’s a good enough reason to try out Pikachu’s latest adventure, right?
If you end up checking it out, let us know what you think! It’s an ambitious but wholly adorable title, so it’s definitely worth at least testing out via the demo.
