Doctor PoGo, one of the top trainers in Pokémon Go, recently had the chance to talk to Niantic’s CEO John Hanke about the future of the game.

The duo had a chance encounter while catching a flight and Doctor PoGo wasted no time in making sure that he got as many details about the game out of Hanke as possible before their flight landed.

During their conversation, Hanke confirmed that generation four Pokémon from the Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games would be coming to Pokémon Go in the future. Hanke also said that the team were hard at work at a PvP system to allow players to fight each other locally instead of through a Gym.

A level-cap increase, a more raid-friendly map, and Pokéstop fan submissions were also teased by Hanke at the same time. Hanke didn’t go into too much details on when all these new features would be implemented.

Hanke did say that a Pokémon Go Fest 2.0 was currently in development over at Nianitic. Niantic staged the first Pokémon Go Fest on July 22 in Chicago. The event offered players the chance to complete challenges, meet other players, and unlock legendary Pokémon, but it was plagued with issues.

Players couldn’t connect to the game’s servers at the event, forcing Niantic to refund attendees in July by giving each person $100 worth of Pokécoins, the in-game currency. Niantic also paid out over $1.5 million to attendees to cover for any wasted travel expenses.
