The Mario Tennis Aces demo goes live today on Nintendo Switch, giving players around the world a chance to try out the game before its release later on this month.

Players will be able to choose from four playable character in the demo—Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser—and will be able to unlock more by completing certain conditions.

The demo is for online play only with matches played in a tournament format. As players advance through the tournament, they will earn points based on their performance. Players that do well will have the chance to unlock the five additional unannounced characters to try out before the demo ends.

There are options to try a match against computer-controlled opponents before stepping into an online match. But you will still need to have an active connection to the internet in order to play.

Fans who play the demo will unlock free exclusive items for the main game if they end up buying it. These items include a free costume for Mario in his traditional dungarees and another unannounced item. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t play the demo over the weekend, however, as Nintendo has confirmed that these items will become available to players some time after the first six months.

Mario Tennis Aces launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch on June 22. It’s the first title in the Mario Tennis series to have a story mode since Mario Tennis: Power Tour for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005.
