Dead or Alive 6 has officially been announced, with an official reveal trailer and new website up to commemorate the unveiling.

It’s the latest game to debut ahead of E3 2018, with relatively little fanfare in a crowded season of announcements.

Team Ninja’s newest title, according to IGN, is taking a more “realistic” approach but the same, clean fighting style fans are used to from the series. The trailer is a flurry of explosive combat. There’s footage of Ryu Hayabusa, and then popular fighters Kasumi and Helena duking it out in what appears to be an electrified fighting ring.

Characters like Zack, Jann Lee, and Hayate are also featured, giving us a first clue as to who might on the roster for the game.

There’s a renewed focus on taking more exaggerated looks, outfits, and overall attitude from prior entries and giving them a more “realistic” effect, especially with the game’s new dynamic facial animations.

The game will also put more effort into story and offline modes in an effort to bolster support for series fans who love and appreciate its characters, settings, and overall aesthetics. In this, it will take an approach similar to the old story mode seen in Dead or Alive 5 as you play through various characters in different episodes to watch the entirety of a plotline unfold.

It’s been three years since Dead or Alive 5: Last Round released back in 2015, so a new entry for the lightning fast fighter is great news all around. It’s coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in early 2019.
