Destiny 2 is about to get its biggest injection of content yet with the introduction of Destiny 2: Forsaken, so now’s a great time to get acquainted with the first-person shooter/MMORPG hybrid. If you’re a PlayStation 4 gamer, you can jump into Destiny 2 for free all weekend, beginning on Friday.Â
The free Destiny 2 trial will allow you to create your own custom character and then play through the entirety of the Destiny 2 campaign, in addition to collecting gear and weapons. You can also take the show on the road to test your skills out in the Crucible. Any progress you rack up during the trial will carry over to the full game if you decide to purchase it.Â
This is the second free trial of the month, with Xbox One users having played through a trial back on June 7, available only for Xbox Live Gold members. You don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to jump on board this weekend on PlayStation 4, so you shouldn’t be out any additional cash if you decide to play. There could be a free PC weekend on the horizon soon, but that’s yet to be confirmed.Â
With the Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion scheduled to touch down on Sept. 4 on all platforms, those interested in checking out the new story mode (as well as Cayde-6’s rumored death for good, this time) and other raid content should take this opportunity to play. There’s a lot you’ve missed out on, though, so it may take a while to catch up.
