The latest Pokémon Go Community Day has been announced, featuring the Grass-type Pokémon Chikorita of Pokémon Gold and Silver fame! The event takes place on Sep 22, 2018 and will run from 1:00 PM til 4:00 PM CDT.

During this time, Trainers will see increased spawns of the Johto region starter and will gain triple the experience when catching Pokémon. Additionally, lures will last for a full three hours so you can bring all the Chikorita to your yard. Chikorita caught during this event will also feature a yet-to-be-announced move that was previously unavailable to this Pokémon and its evolutions.

Though not yet announced, it’s likely that this event will see Chikorita’s shiny variant added to the game, as with Pokémon featured in previous Community Days. The models have been in the game files for quite some time, and give Chikorita and its evolutions a slightly more autumn-toned look. They’re far from substantial changes.

Chikorita, Bayleef, and Meganium, and their shiny versions.

With the focus on Generation I starters having wrapped up on July’s Community Day, which spotlighted the Water-type Pokémon Squirtle, it appears that it’s now time to move on to Generation II starters. This likely means that Trainers can expect to see Community Days featuring the Fire-type Cyndaquil and Water-type Totodile (and their shiny variants) in the near future.
