Despite constantly denying it at every turn, it appears that Blizzard has finally gone ahead with the announcement every Diablo fan has been waiting for. Diablo III will be coming to the Switch later this year.
Kotaku reports (via ResetEra) that a now-deleted post via Forbes announced the Diablo III Eternal Collection, news that was originally scheduled to go out tomorrow, is coming to the system. The release will include the base game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, Rise of the Necromancer, and all the previous updates for it as well. You can also snap up a special armor set unique to the Nintendo Switch release, if you’re interested in customizing your character further.
The $59.99 pack will allow four-player local co-op on one Switch as well a four-player local co-op on separate Switches in addition to online co-op with a smattering of connectivity options, meaning this will open a lot of doors for players to enjoy the game together.
Recently, Blizzard announced that there are “multiple Diablo projects in the works,” as community manager Brandy Camel stated in a clip the company released called “The Future of Diablo.” This could very well be one of the projects Camel had been referring to.
It isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Diablo III coming to Switch, either, as an earlier report via Eurogamer seemed to confirm this earlier this year. Unfortunately, Blizzard pooh-poohed those rumors, and it seemed the topic was no longer up for discussion.
Get ready to free up a few days later this year when the game drops, though it doesn’t appear there’s a concrete release date for it just yet.Â
