Firaxis’ hit strategy title Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is coming to Nintendo Switch, according to a since-removed news post from the game’s official website.
Civilization VI is reportedly set to launch on the Switch on Nov. 16, 2018. The Switch rendition promises “the latest game updates and improvements” as well as four new civilization and scenario packs: The Vikings Scenario Pack, the Poland Civilization and Scenario Pack, the Australia Civilization and Scenario Pack, and the Persia and Macedon Civilization and Scenario Pack, according to a transcript posted on Reset Era.
The Switch version also promises four-player multiplayer through a wireless local area network, which means Switch users will be able to play the game together by connecting their own Switch the same room. Both co-op and competitive multiplayer was announced in the deleted post, although other details remain slim for now.
Fans speculate that Civilization VI’s Switch reveal was originally planned for this week’s Nintendo Direct, which was postponed after an earthquake impacted the Japanese island Hokkaido. On Thursday, Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe announced that at least 16 were killed in the disaster, the Guardian reports. Nintendo plans to share “a new time and date in the near future” for the Nintendo Direct, but with the nation still recovering and mourning after the natural disaster, it remains unclear when that upcoming Nintendo Direct will be rescheduled.
