Sony announced today that Marvel’s Spider-Man sold a staggering 3.3 million copies in its first three days after release. One million copies of the game were pre-ordered, according to USA Today.
The publisher didn’t reveal just how much money they’ve netted from the record-breaking sales, but USA Today tallied the number up to $198 million. This would mean their game has surpassed Spider-Man: Homecoming’s weekend box office opening. Copies sold during the first three days don’t include Sony’s limited-edition PlayStation 4 Pro bundle that included Marvel’s Spider-Man with a themed console, which means there’s even more games out there than this tallies.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is now Sony’s “fastest-selling first-party video game release” in Sony’s history, USA Today said. Previously, God of War held the title with 3.1 million copies sold in its first three days after its May release.
“Our expectations are always set at the highest levels,” Sony senior vice president of sales Stephen Turvey told USA Today. “It’s met and exceeded all expectations. I think the company, and the campus, and our fans are super proud of it.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man released on Sept. 7 exclusively on PlayStation 4. The game released to massive praise. It’s the first Spider-Man video game to be released since The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was released in 2014.
