Fortnite has made of the ongoing introduction of new content and modes one of its trademarks, but sometimes things don’t go necessarily as planned.
Indeed, at times it happens that stuff added by the developer Epic Games reveals to be too powerful or different in comparison with the original plan.
So, this is precisely what happened with the Infinity Blade, the latest Mythic item Epic introduced in the battle royale mode.
The item was capable of providing players with 200 health, 200 shield, the ability to leap great distances and to deal 75 damage with each swing.
After the community remarked how unfair and unbalanced this new weapon was, Epic decided to completely remove it from the game.
“We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game,” the studio said.
“The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items,” it was added, meaning things in the future will be different for other items to come.
Hopefully this doesn’t mean that items won’t be added anymore as time passes by, since the fact those get added from time to time is one of the most interesting features of the title.
Heya folks,
We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game.
The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items.
Thanks for calling us out on this!
