Konami released a new trailer for Metal Gear: Survive showcasing it’s brand new single player mode with base building, crafting, and Metal Gear action.
Konami released a new trailer for Metal Gear: Survive showcasing what the single player will look like. When the game was first announced, I remember asking myself if this was going to be good step, considering Konami parted ways with Hideo Kojima. Thankfully, it looks like Konami knows what they’re doing with this new installment.
Taking a page from the horde mode of survival type games we’ve seen so much of in the past few years, we get a glimpse of what the game will be like. You’re transported to what seems to be a different world inhabited by strange zombie creatures. We’re not clear as to why you’re transported to this world, but it will be revealed throughout gameplay as you progress the story.
The biggest revealing piece of this trailer is that the game includes the ability to build a base to keep people safe, upgrade weapons, and fight off hordes of monsters. You will have to scavenge for materials to upgrade various defensive and offensive ways to keep your base safe. While base building is nothing new to the gaming world, one has to wonder what kind of options you’ll be given on how big your base can be.
While we only got a glimpse of what is to come, we will be able to get our hands on the game very soon. Starting January 18th and ending January 21st, you will be able to play a beta version of Metal Gear: Survive. Right now it appears that the beta is only coming to the PS4 and the Xbox One. Three missions and two maps will be available during the demo, and you will be able to bag some exclusive items for taking part in the beta.
While PS4 players will not need PlayStation Plus to join in on the fun, it is required for Xbox players to have Live to play the beta. No PC beta has been announced thus far, but as soon as we know, we’ll let you know. Metal Gear: Survive releases on February 20th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
