Niantic announced the release of more Gen 3 Pokémon including the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza and special boxes starting February 9th. Rayquaza will be available in Raids until March 16th. Different Pokémon will start appearing in Raid battles as well. Trainers can purchase special in game boxes until February 23rd.
Several more Dragon and Flying types are making their way to Pokémon GO along with Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza. We can start seeing these new Pokémon starting February 9th.
In addition to adding more Pokémon from the Hoenn region, these Gen 3 Pokémon will be taking over wild encounters until February 13th. This means we only see Gen 3 Pokémon in the wild for a brief period of time. It will be a great chance to catch new additions such as Salamence, Altaria, Metagross, and more.
Legendary Pokémon
Just like the other Legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza will only be available to battle in Raids for a limited time. You will have until March 16th to catch this Legendary Pokémon before it disappears. If you haven’t caught Kyogre yet, you have until February 14th. If you’re wondering what Pokémon to use against these Legendaries, TL;DR Games has you covered. Take a look at our Rayquaza and Kyogre guides.
Raid Rotation
In addition to adding more Pokémon to the wild, you will also encounter new ones in Raid battles. We aren’t sure which ones will leave and which ones will be added, but this will give Trainers more opportunities to face different Pokémon in Raids.
Special Boxes
Also, starting February 9th, you will be able to purchase special boxes from the in-game store. These boxes will include Raid Passes, Incubators, and Star Pieces. These boxes will be available until February 23rd, and as an added bonus, Lure Modules will remain activated for 6 hours until February 23rd as well.
It’s an exciting time to be playing Pokémon GO as we get to discover more Gen 3 Pokémon and prepare for more adventures ahead. Just remember that Pokémon GO Community Day for February starts on the 24th, and will bring even more goodies.
