It’s been over a month now that Sea of Thieves has been in our lives and Rare is releasing update 1.0.6 today which brings some new fashion choices in addition to the usual fixes and improvements. Perhaps most importantly, if you like feeling like a special kind of pirate, you can pick up an exclusive weapon that’ll only be available for a limited time.
“Launch Crew” Eye of Reach
To allow early players to celebrate their uniqueness, the “Launch Crew” Eye of Reach weapon will be available at vendors for the next two weeks. After that it’ll be gone forever. So if you’re looking to show off the fact that you got into Sea of Thieves early, it’s the perfect way to spend a single gold coin. I know I will be logging on to grab it!
More Cosmetics
Admittedly, I haven’t looked at other pirates’ clothing too closely before. Unless they’re part of my crew, I’m too busy stabbing them or running away from them in my sloop. However, the fashion and ship customization choices have been somewhat limited. Rare is addressing this concern with this patch by adding seven new outfits and ship customization options.
- Regional Stock – Shopkeepers in different regions now only stock certain item sets, due to some mistimed deliveries.
- Strike a Pose – Expanded clothing range to include the Executive Admiral, Grand Admiral, Rotten Bilge Rat, Castaway Bilge Rat, Corsair Sea Dog, Ruffian Sea Dog, and Imperial Sovereign sets.
- Ship Shape – Multiple sets of ship cosmetics have been added to the shipwright stock. Now you can purchase and equip Grand Admiral, Castaway Bilge Rat, Ruffian Sea Dog, and Imperial Sovereign ship customization sets.
- Ohh, Shiny! – Visit the weapon shops at the many outposts to find their stocks of Grand Admiral, Castaway Bilge Rat, Ruffian Sea Dog, and Imperial Sovereign weapons.
Keep in mind that with this patch, not every vendor will stock every item.
Alongside the new cosmetics variations, you’ll find that shop stock varies from outpost to outpost, depending on the region you’re in. Don’t worry, you can pick up your new Bilge Rat gear in all regions, but you’ll have to head to the Ancient Isles to pick up the new Sovereign set!
Of course, there is a bevy of bug fixes and performance improvements included with this patch as well. For a full list of those changes, check out the official release notes. Patch 1.0.6 weighs in at between 1.25GB and 1.36GB depending on your platform and is available right now. See you out there, pirates!
